Today's reading is a little different...I got the intuitive nudge to provide a meditation, so pulled a card from "The Meditation Deck" by Madonna Gauding (which I couldn't find available anymore in the US, so the link is for a similar product).
"Dancing Flame" Meditation (here's a summary of what to do):
When to use: This is a good meditation at night or whenever you are feeling fearful or overwhelmed by some aspect of your life.
1.) Place a candle at eye level, roughly three feet from where you can sit comfortably. Other lighting in the room should be low, but not absent.
2.) Begin with Nine-Round Breathing (Tibetan Buddhist breathing and purification practice for balancing your mind and reducing negative thoughts before meditating):
a.) Visualize your body empty and transparent. Inhale through your left nostril while keeping the right one closed with your left index finger, imagining pure white light filling your body. Exhale from your right nostril by closing the left one with that same finger, and imagine any obsessions with sex or material possessions leaving in the form of black smoke. Repeat 3 times.
b.) Hold your left nostril closed with your right index finger while imagining breathing in pure while light. Exhale anger and hatred in the form of black smoke from your left nostril. Repeat 3 times.
c.) Breathe in white light through both nostrils, and breath out black smoke of ignorance or mental confusion. Imagine this smoke leaving your body at the point between your eyebrows (Third Eye). Repeat 3 times.
3.) Focus on the candle flame, allow your mind to empty of all thoughts. As you breathe in the light and warmth of the candle flame, allow it to release any fears, anxiety or insecurity from your mind. When thoughts pop up, consciously refocus on the candle flame.
4.) Do this meditation for 10-15 minutes.
Message from Hello Rose:
When I pulled the card, I noticed the time--so decided to check the meaning of it with Doreen Virtue's Angel Numbers app (pictured, right). Very encouraging! :)
By the time you read this post, I will have tried the meditation myself...would love to hear how it works for you in the comments below!
